Less than two weeks and I’ll be back in the South of France. I’m looking forward to my 4th Summer in a row.
But I’ll miss my boys, my new BoP friends and everyone in CHC. I’ve had a wonderful Summer back home in good old NZ. Got around a fair bit too – Christchurch, North Canterbury, Totaranui, Wellington, Napier, Whangamata, Whangarei, all the sailing around the Coromandel and the Bay of Islands, and the bussing up and down in between! Can’t complain.
On top of that, or perhaps I should say, in between all that, I’ve got the CHC house packed up and sold. Special thanks for that goes to the Rob, Hannah, Tahi and Ryan who kept it tidy for open homes etc in my absence. And to Brian and Peter for handing the sale.
The furniture arrived in Ohope last Friday. Most of my stuff will stay stored in the garage, but I have put my bookcase and some books inside. Always nice to have a library! I’ve hung a few pictures too.
Shane visited for a few days which was great. I think he was pretty impressed with what we’ve done here. It is an awesome spot. My buddy, David, took us fishing one morning so we had snapper for dinner and kahawai sushimi!
I had hoped Dad and Mum would get up too but I think we’ve run out of time. Only one more weekend really.
I feel a lot more relaxed heading to the Mediterranean this year, unsurprisingly! I’m staying at a friend, Paul’s, apartment when I arrive and can’t wait to see Ruth and that marvelous group of women! It’ll be odd not having Barbara there. She died about a week ago after a fall from a mezzanine balcony. So sad and can hardly believe it still.
Also looking forward to seeing Fouche, David and Paul, buddies from the sailing world. The others I got to know aren’t in France at the moment. Paul might have a job for me on his new boat. It’d be great to have a skipper I know I like! Otherwise, I do already have a position on a sailing yacht doing a delivery from Brest to the Greek Islands. Pretty stoked about that.
So all in all, this girl is a Happy Camper! Very blessed, rich in experience, family and friends.
